Embracing Your Saturn

Lessons on Dissolving Personal Barriers

with Lisa Verschoor Smith

RESCHEDULED!
Thursday, April 1, 2010
4:00p - 7:00p

Workshop Fee: $40

This interactive workshop will tap into your creativity while introducing you to the twelve faces of Saturn. You will learn where Saturn is located on your natal chart, how it influences you personally, and what it means throughout your life.

A Saturn transit can bring hard work, responsibilites and, occassionally, loss. However, with the knowledge you will be given, you will step out of fear and embrace these intermittent changes with excitement and the necessary tools to handle them.

You will be creating a beautiful collage as a representation of your own personal Saturn blueprint. Bring a notebook and the desire to let loose and have some fun!

VOSCA Benefit

Friday, MARCH 26th, 2010
7-10 PM
Tickets: $10 adults, $5 students

Pompanuck Farm will host a dance benefit for VOSCA. Music and dancing will begin at 7pm, and a short intermission when VOSCA members will talk a bit about their efforts.

Dirty Ol' Strings is an acoustic trio from Cambridge, including Deena Chappell (mandolin, vocals) Dave Cuite (stand-up bass, vocals) and David Lawlor (guitar, vocals). The group formed in the late fll of '08 and has been steadily gaining recognition in the area for their strong vocals and instrumental prowess. They perform an energetic mix of contemporary and traditional bluegrass, swing, and folk with a playful air and occassional sardonic humor: a fun band to experience live.

This year, VOSCA with 20 CCS students (mostly seniors) and six chaperones will be headed back to an area near Loris, SC where they will again be rebuilding homes of the very impoverished, and hopefully have some quality time with children.

VOSCA has three other fundraisers underway: a "Many Prizes" Raffle, a car wash at Stewart's on March 27th, and a Chicken BBQ on March 28th at the Legion (4-6pm). All funds raised will help pay for travel, room, and board, and building materials. For more information, call Bob Cheney at 518-677-2766.

Introduction to Wild Mushrooms

Winter Study for Summer Forays

with Sue Van Hook

March 27th

3pm ~ 5pm

Lecture fee: $10

Mycologist, Sue Van Hook, will lead two hour mushroom forays throughout the spring and summer. You are invited to attend as many as you'd like, but first you need to learn the basics identifying the groups of fungi. If you attend the winter lecture, then you have access to the summer collecting forays. This is to avoid reteaching the basics each weekend, so you can really advance your identification skills and enjoy more species.

Be sure to bring a notebook and pen. Sue will have copies of "How to Identify Mushrooms to Genus I: Macroscopic Features" by David L. Largent for sale ($20).

This introductory lecture will be offered again in March and April at different locations.
