Pompanuck Farm will hold its Spring Pizza/Jazz Big Night! This is the first of Pompanuck's music and meal nights of 2010 will happen with enough great music and pizza to take us through the Spring! Come hear fine Jazz and enjoy wood-fired pizza in the Roundhouse at Pompanuck in a benefit night for Pompanuck's programs.
Headlining this evening's jazz will be vocalist, Leah Carroll (Greenwich, NY) and Bruce Williamson with local Bennington College and New York City musicians.
Leah Carroll started training classically at fourteen, but loves jazz because it's limitless and liberating - no boundaries. She has been performing at various venues in the capital region for the last five years, exploring many styles of music such as folk, jazz, soul, funk, blues and latin jazz.
Multi-instumentalist, Bruce Williamson, co-founder at Pompanuck. Bruce was active
in the San Francisco jazz scene until moving to New York City in the mid-1980s. Bruce has performed with Mark Levine, Pete & Sheila Escovedo, Bobby McFerrin, Benny Green and was a member of the experimental jazz group in various New York City clubs and has been a featured soloist in Japan and Europe. His most recent CD "Big City Magic" on Timeless Records features well-known trumpeter Randy Brecker and Bruce's compositions for jazz septet. Bruce is presently on the music faculty at Bennington College, VT and has been a jazz clinician throughout the U.S. and Europe. He divides his time between NYC and Cambridge,NY, where he is founding member of Pompanuck Farm Institute. Bruce an his friends can be heard locally at our Pizza Jazz benefit nights.

Proceeds from this event fund our children's programs that we host thoughout the year.

Chinese Calligraphy with Scott Carrino

Pompanuck Farm will offer An Introduction to Large Brush Chinese Calligraphy. Calligraphy is considered one of the highest forms of fine arts of China and Japan. The characters are symbolic of the human experience as it relates to our environment, spirituality and every day living.

Scott Carrino has been studying Chinese calligraphy for the past 17 years and offers this workshop for participants to learn the techniques of large brush painting of characters and the meaning behind each brush stroke.

Participants will learn proper brush and ink technique and leave with an understanding of at numerous meaningful characters. No experience is necessary, as we learn to play as children with energy and joyful fun.

Dance Party Benefit for Haiti featuring Roadside Blues Band

Here at Pompanuck, we focus much of our efforts locally, but its times like the events that have taken place in Haiti, we consider a global outreach and support people in great need, particularly, its youngest victims, the children.

So, come dance and have a great time while supporting a great cause. Our dance party will featuring local band, the Roadside Blues Band who will donate their music for the evening. The Roadside Blues consists of Willie Eldorado Lanchantin (guitarist), Michael Kraus (vocals & harmonica), Peter Maine (drums & vocals) Mitch Throop (stand up bass).

The Roadside Blues Band captures the raw excitement of the early blues legends of the the 50's and 60's. The stand up bass and sealed back drum kit, the early Gibson, and the mouth harp blend to create a sound that is truly authentic.

Suggested minimum donation at the door $5/students, $10/adults.

In the past, we have held benefits before, such as a 2002 benefit for the Iraqi children, funds were donated to Doctors Without Borders and Teaching Tolerance. This time, we plan to again send financial support to Doctors Without Borders, as well as, UNICEF. All proceeds will go directly to support the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

Refreshments will be available.

February Vacation Enrichment!


Pompanuck Farm will host a week filled with art, music, nature studies, useful skills and play, lead by artists and educators Lisa and Scott Carrino and the Pompanuck staff. Kids will leave this program with beautiful art work and new and exciting physical and useful skills.

Dates: Monday February 15 – Friday February 19
Hours: 9am – 3pm
Participants: Children of Elementary and Middle School age


Group size is limited so please sign up early. Cost is $165 for registration by January 25 and $180 thereafter. Please call Pompanuck at 518-677-5552 or email info@pompanuck.org to register and make 50% deposit to insure your child’s place. If there is enough interest, we will offer optional Extended Hours 3pm-4pm (1hr) $35/wk or 3pm-5pm (2hr) $65/wk.

Pompanuck is a 501c3 educational not-for-profit. We accept credit cards, personal checks, or cash as methods of payment. You are welcome to inquire about availability of scholarships.
